On May 22, 2025, the annual meeting of the European Gaming and Amusement Federation (EUROMAT) was held in Brussels, with the participation of The Association of Organizers of Gambling Games and Activities in Bulgaria (AOGGAB, in Bulgarian СОХИДБ). The Bulgarian delegation was represented by lawyer Kiril Gruichev and the association’s PR coordinator Stelian Dimitrov.
EUROMAT unites 14 national gambling associations and leading companies from across Europe, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, Croatia, and others, representing the interests of the industry on the continent.
Social Responsibility and Sharing Best Practices
One of the key topics at the meeting was the preparation of a special Social Responsibility Report, which will be presented at the upcoming conference in Rome on November 5, 2025. The report compiles best practices from several countries — Spain, Germany, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, and Italy — focusing on responsible gaming, prevention of gambling addiction, and protection of vulnerable groups.
Forum for Omnichannel Operators and European Regulations
The idea of creating a specialized forum for omnichannel operators — companies operating both online and land-based — was discussed. This forum will support the implementation of the new European Digital Fairness Act, aimed at increasing transparency and protecting consumers from manipulative marketing practices.
Strategic Partnership with SIGMA and Conference in Rome
EUROMAT confirmed its strategic partnership with SIGMA — an international platform and exhibition for the gambling industry, which will host the conference in Rome. The event will provide exhibition spaces, conference rooms, and media support, facilitating direct dialogue between the industry and European regulators.
Invitation to the 2025 Gaming Industry Gala Dinner
The Bulgarian delegation officially invited all EUROMAT members to participate in the “Gaming Industry Gala Dinner,” to be held on November 25, 2025, in Sofia under the motto “Together in Europe.” The theme highlights the European integration of Bulgaria and the region, as well as the role of the Balkans in the development of the gambling industry on the continent. EUROMAT President Jason Frost praised the high quality and success of last year’s event, which generated significant interest among EUROMAT members.
Commitment to Transparency and Cooperation with Institutions
As part of efforts to enhance transparency and best practices, AOGGAB has submitted a comprehensive report to key Bulgarian institutions — the Ministry of Finance, the National Revenue Agency, the Bulgarian Institute of Metrology, the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, and the State Agency “National Security.” The report summarizes the main topics and challenges at the European level and supports active dialogue between the industry and regulators in Bulgaria. This is part of EUROMAT’s strategy to strengthen cooperation between its members and institutions, in which AOGGAB is an active partner.
